Welcome to our ACG New York newsletter that will keep you in touch with all the great networking events that ACG has provided to its members. My name is Bob Blumenfeld, President of ARG Recovery and I'm proud to be spearheading a great effort by many members to constantly provide you with superlative networking opportunites, educational and interesting programming, and most importantly, a sense that you are a part of a growing deal making community both in the Tri-State area as well as throughout the World. ACG-NY was honored as the "Outstanding Programming Chapter" for 2006 by the Association of Corporate Growth's 10,000 members and 51 worldwide chapters.

Join us on June 6th at the Metropolitan Club (60th and Fifth Avenue) for our 2nd Annual M&A Dealsource.
This event is a must attend for anyone in the deal business and will include a panel discussion of M&A war stories from leading experts and a Networking Exhibition where 30 leading middle market investment banks will be ready to discuss M&A opportunities while serving attendees a unique beer.

Programming includes the Co- Founder of Brooklyn Brewery, Tom Potter as well as:

The Pathology of a Merger Moderator: David Lobel, Managing Partner, Sentinel Capital Partners

Panel Includes: Justin Abelow (Houlihan Lokey), Hal Rich (Sagent), Bill Sanders (Morgan Stanley), Jay Aidikoff (Valuefinder Group), and Michael Goldman (TM Capital).

-- Did that private equity partner really just tell the family patriarch of a business being sold that his favorite nephew wasn't cutting it as VP Operations and would have to be fired?

--Did counsel to a company in a hotly-contested auction really send a due diligence package under a cover memo addressed to and naming each and every auction participant?

--Does the CEO of the company you are looking to buy really have an arrest record that included impersonating a police officer?

Join a diverse team of seasoned deal professionals from boutique, middle market and bulge bracket investment banking firms as they discuss some of the most pathological blunders they and their firms have witnessed over the course of their careers in dealmaking. While these mistakes represent the gamut of deadly sins, from sloth to greed, from pride to envy (did we mention greed already?), their effect is the same: to make it less likely that a deal occurs. The panel will not only discuss examples of horrors witnessed in the past, but will provide tips on how to avoid similar problems in future deals.

Deutsch & Company LLC,Duff & Phelps, LLC,Goldsmith-Agio-Helms, Greene Holcomb & Fisher, Houlihan Lokey, Levi Littell Herbst & Co., LLC, Matrix Capital Markets Group, Mazzone & Associates, LLC, Mesirow Financial, Inc., MNC Multinational Consultants, Morgan Joseph & Co, Inc., RSM Equico, Ryan Beck & Co., SSG Capital Advisors, L.P., Stifel Nicolaus, TM Capital, and Bryant Park Capital.

Blues Brothers
Over 1300 Dealmakers attended the 2006 Intergrowth Conference held in Orlando, making it the largest ACG conference in its history. It was 3 days of non stop networking and developing new deal sources.
If you never attended an Intergrowth Conference your missing one of the biggest benefits of membership.

This year the New York Chapter was honored as the "Outstanding Programming Chapter" of the year. Competition was stiff with 50 Chapters competing for this prestigious award.

New York also hosted its 2nd annual conference featuring the Alabama Blues Brothers. Over 250 New York and Worldwide members enjoyed the excitement the NY Chapter has been known to create.
Next year...see you at the Biltimore in Phoenix, Arizona.

Russia Panle
ACG in conjunction with the US/Russia Business Council hosted its first Russian M&A Panel at the NY Palace Hotel. As we found out from our distinguished panelists, there are great opportunities in Russia...right now! It isn't unusual to triple your investment in less than a year.

We have made available the powerpoint presentations on our ACG website.

The Russian Bi-Lateral Panel included: Arthur George, Baker&Mckenzie
Dan Rappoport, CentreInvest Group
J.P. Natkin, URALSIB Financial Corporation
Michael Jordan, Aton Securities

Discussion ensued covering the entire lending spectrum including the growth of mezzanine lenders, the constant supply of new funds in the deal market place, and will the party ever end.

A hand poll was taken amont the over 135 attendees, with the majority expecting a downward change in the deal market within the next two years.

What makes ACG-NY a thriving and growing networking organization? It's our Executive Board and Board of Directors. So, next time you run into them (they have a ribbon on their badges), ask them how you can get involved in ACG. A new board will be selected next January 2007. Board members are selected in part by their activity in supporting ACG. You don't need to be a Director to participate...Have an idea, submit an article, know someone who should join ACG, or a programming idea...send me a note and I'll get back to you.
